| The aim of the present study was to develop a model for the effectiveness of university curricula, with an emphasis on graduates’professional competencies. In terms of purpose, the study was fundamental research, and in terms of methodology, it was qualitative and conducted using a theoretical contextualization approach.Research data were collected through documentary content analysis. To this end, theoretical texts, books, articles, and relevant studies concerning the effectiveness of university curricula and graduates’ professional competencies were purposively selected and analyzed. The data-analysis process was carried out in four stages: concept coding, theme categorization, contextualization, and representation of the final model. At the contextualization stage, the components of the three-level model of internal, external, and institutional effectiveness were analyzed and recombined in relation to the framework of graduates’ professional competencies. The findings indicated that the dimension of internal effectiveness includes competencies such as self-direction, self-motivation, personality traits, general awareness, lifelong learning, thinking skills, creativity, information processing, social interaction, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, specialized knowledge and insight, and cultural competencies. The dimension of external effectiveness encompasses components such as environmental awareness, general communication, resource management, digital and workplace skills, specialized capabilities, employability, entrepreneurship, business skills, economic issues, and management and leadership.Furthermore, the dimension of institutional effectiveness includes ethical components, social responsibilities, global perspectives, sustainability, and environmental concerns. To ensure the credibility and dependability of the findings, detailed documentation of the analytical process, source triangulation, peer review, and recoding were employed.By presenting a comprehensive model, this framework emphasizes the need to address individual development (internal effectiveness),responsiveness to labor-market needs(external effectiveness),and the fulfillment of social and ethical commitments (institutional effectiveness) simultaneously in curriculum design |
