| Laser forming process with the aim of fabrication of curved tube from initial straight tube with an irradiating scheme with parallel straight lines is studied experimentally. The effects of laser parameters such as laser output power, laser scanning speed, laser beam diameter and the number of irradiating lines on the radius of curvature of laser formed tubes are investigated. The design of experiment (DOE) method based on the response surface methodology is used for accurately and comprehensively study of the effects of each input parameter as well as their interactions on the radius of curvature. The results show that using the proposed irradiating scheme in this paper, a curved tube can be successfully fabricated from initial straight tube. Also, it is concluded that with increasing the laser output power and number of irradiating lines the radius of curvature of the laser formed tube is decreased. In addition, the radius of curvature is increased with increasing in the laser scanning speed and laser beam diameter. Optimizing the input parameters show that in order to achieve the minimum radius of curvature, the laser output power, the laser scanning speed, the laser beam diameter and number of irradiating lines should be adjusted as 115 Watts, 2 mm/s, 1 mm and 75, respectively. | ||
